Pramipexole for the treatment of RLS (restless leg syndrome) – Suitable for prescribing in primary care for idiopathic RLS, in severe cases, only after excluding potential causes of secondary RLS such as iron deficiency and peripheral neuropathy. Safety update 2020 -SPC now advises that abrupt discontinuation of dopaminergic therapy can lead to the development of a neuroleptic malignant syndrome or a dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome.
